Global FinTech investment rose sharply in the second quarter of 2026, reaching $30.9bn as a surge in transactions worth more than $100m pushed overall funding higher.

Global FinTech investment reaches $30.9bn

FinTech companies worldwide raised $30.9bn across 872 deals in Q2 2026, according to new industry data. Funding increased 56% compared with the $19.8bn raised across 896 deals in Q1 2026, although the number of transactions fell by 3%.

Compared with Q2 2025, quarterly investment climbed 34% from $23bn. Deal activity remained broadly stable, increasing by just 3% from the 850 transactions recorded during the same period last year.

The figures indicate that investors are committing substantially more capital without significantly expanding the number of deals. This suggests that funding is becoming increasingly concentrated in larger transactions.

Average deal size rose to $35.4m in Q2 2026, up from $22.1m in Q1. It was also significantly higher than the $27.1m average recorded in Q2 2025, marking the highest level across the periods compared.

Deals above $100m account for most FinTech funding

Large transactions were the main driver behind the quarter’s funding growth. Deals below $100m generated $8.3bn in Q2 2026, representing an 11% decline from $9.4bn in Q2 2025 and a 20% drop from the $10.4bn recorded in Q1 2026.

By contrast, transactions valued at $100m or more generated $22.5bn during the quarter. That figure was 1.7 times higher than the $13.6bn recorded in Q2 2025 and 2.4 times above the $9.4bn secured in Q1 2026.

Large deals represented 73% of total global FinTech funding in Q2, compared with 59% a year earlier. The growing dependence on high-value transactions could create additional market risks if the flow of major deals slows in the coming quarters.

Ebury secures $748.1m funding package

One of the most significant FinTech transactions of the quarter involved Ebury, Santander’s platform focused on cross-border payments, foreign exchange risk management and trade services for businesses.

Ebury secured a $748.1m funding package in a round led by Centerbridge Partners. Existing shareholders Santander, Vitruvian Partners and 83North also participated.

Santander, which has held a majority interest in Ebury since 2020, will invest a further $68m and retain a 55% stake in the company. The investment is expected to be completed through two transactions, subject to regulatory approval.

Ebury operates in 30 regulated markets, serves more than 27,000 businesses and supports payments in over 140 currencies across 160 countries. Its offering includes international payments, real-time fund transfers between subsidiaries, foreign exchange services and integration with customers’ financial systems.

The company has recorded annual revenue growth of more than 30% since Santander first invested. Ebury plans to use the new funding to develop products, expand into additional markets and increase its use of artificial intelligence to improve payment processing and the customer experience.
