The second quarter of 2026 saw the US FinTech sector expand, with California solidifying its role as the nation’s premier hub for financial technology investment and innovation.

America-based FinTech companies attracted a total of $16.3 billion across 610 deals in Q2 2026. This represents a 9% year-over-year increase in funding from the same period in 2025 and a significant 47% jump from the first quarter of 2026. While the number of deals fell slightly from Q1, it rose 12% compared to Q2 2025, indicating a strong and growing sector.

California and New York Maintain Dominance

California firmly held its top position, with companies there securing 30% of all deals in Q2 2026. The state recorded 180 transactions, up from 163 in Q2 2025.

New York remained the second-largest market, also maintaining a 19% share of deals. A notable shift occurred for third place, with Texas entering the top three at the expense of Florida.

This movement suggests a slight broadening of FinTech activity beyond the traditional coastal hubs, even as California and New York continue to lead the market.

Cyera’s $600M Round Highlights AI Security Focus

A standout deal of the quarter was Cyera’s $600 million funding round. The company, which positions itself as an AI-native data security provider for the agentic era, secured the capital to accelerate its platform’s deployment among Fortune 1000 companies.

Cyera’s technology offers enterprises unified control over data security, loss prevention, and access governance, specifically addressing the challenges posed by AI agents. The company has seen rapid growth, tripling its annual recurring revenue for three consecutive years and expanding its workforce to over 1,500 employees across 18 countries.
