DOGE Departure: “Big Balls” Resigns from US Government Role

Edward “Big Balls” Coristine, a figurehead in Elon Musk’s controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has officially resigned from his position within the US government, according to a White House statement to WIRED.

Coristine’s departure marks a significant shift for DOGE, an initiative launched with the promise of streamlining government operations through technological innovation. His exit follows Elon Musk’s own departure from the government in an official capacity last month, casting a shadow over the future of the department.

Sudden Exit Raises Questions

News of Coristine’s resignation comes shortly after he was granted full-time employment status at the General Services Administration (GSA). Sources indicate that his GSA Google Workspace account was deactivated, and his name has been removed from the White House’s internal contact list of DOGE employees. This abrupt change suggests a rapid and potentially turbulent exit.

Prior to his resignation, Coristine actively participated in meetings with various government departments, including the Commerce Department, the military, and the Treasury Department, discussing topics ranging from Trump’s golden Visa to implementing the DOGE agenda across different agencies.

DOGE’s Future in Doubt

With both Musk and his top lieutenant, Steve Davis, having left DOGE, the department’s long-term viability is now uncertain. Sahil Lavingia, a former DOGE member, suggests that significant staff reductions are likely, particularly given the probationary status of many recent hires. “I have heard since Elon and Steve have supposedly departed, they’ve terminated a lot of those that got hired.”

Lavingia highlighted Coristine’s role as a trusted technologist within DOGE, deployed across multiple federal agencies with access to sensitive systems. This level of access and influence raises concerns about the potential impact of his departure and the future direction of DOGE’s initiatives.

Controversy Surrounding Coristine

Coristine’s background has been a subject of scrutiny. Known online as “Big Balls,” the 19-year-old high school graduate previously worked at Neuralink and founded Tesla.Sexy LLC, a company with ties to Russian domains and AI Discord bots. His association with reformed blackhat hackers and alleged solicitation of distributed denial of service attacks have added to the controversy.

During his tenure, DOGE aimed to overhaul the federal bureaucracy, gaining access to sensitive payment systems and seeking to integrate siloed systems. This aggressive approach has raised concerns about potential overreach and surveillance capabilities.
