Global WealthTech investment accelerated sharply in the third quarter of 2026, with funding reaching $2.8bn across 124 deals. The result marks a threefold increase from the $932.2m invested across 151 transactions in Q2 2026.
- Global WealthTech funding reached $2.8bn in Q3 2026.
- Deals worth $100m or more increased 14.4 times compared with the previous quarter.
- CAIS raised $170m in a Series D round, ranking among the largest WealthTech transactions of the quarter.
WealthTech funding rises as deal volumes decline
Although total investment surged, the number of WealthTech deals fell by 18% compared with Q2. Funding was also 54% higher than the $1.8bn recorded across 157 deals in Q3 2025, while transaction volume declined by 21% year on year.
The gap between funding growth and deal activity highlights a market increasingly driven by a small number of high-value investments. Average deal size climbed from $6.2m in Q2 2026 to $22.5m in Q3, compared with $11.5m in the same quarter of 2025.
Large transactions drive the quarterly funding surge
Investment in deals below $100m totalled $624.2m during Q3 2026. This represented a 64% decline from the $1.7bn recorded in Q3 2025 and a 20% drop from the $782.2m invested in Q2 2026.
By contrast, transactions valued at $100m or more generated $2.2bn in funding. That figure was 21.6 times higher than the $100m recorded in Q3 2025 and 14.4 times above the $150m reported in Q2 2026.
The $2.2bn total came from just eight transactions, showing how heavily overall WealthTech funding depended on a limited number of major deals. Large transactions accounted for 78% of all funding in Q3, compared with only 6% a year earlier.
The sharp change in funding composition could signal a new phase of market consolidation and institutional investment. However, it remains unclear whether the concentration reflects a lasting trend or a temporary increase in large financing rounds.
CAIS secures $170m Series D investment
CAIS, an alternative investment platform serving independent financial advisors, raised $170m in a Series D funding round during the quarter. The investment valued the New York-based company at more than $2bn.
The round was led by Vista Equity Partners and included participation from AllianceBernstein, Blue Owl Capital, Carlyle, Fortress Investment Group, Golub Capital, Lord Abbett and Royal Bank of Canada.
The latest financing brings CAIS’s total capital raised to nearly $600m and follows a reported three-year organic revenue compound annual growth rate of 37%.
CAIS currently supports more than 2,500 wealth management firms and over 65,000 financial advisors. Together, those advisors oversee approximately $8.5tn in end-client assets.
During the first half of 2026, transaction volume on the platform increased 53% year on year, while total platform assets climbed 55%. The company offers a funds marketplace, custom funds and capital markets services.
CAIS also introduced more than 150 technology features in the first half of the year. Its AI research agent, CAISey, allows advisors to access platform information through conversational prompts and is integrated with Anthropic’s Claude.
CAIS plans to use the new capital to expand its platform, scale its artificial intelligence capabilities and pursue strategic growth opportunities.
