White House Probes Alleged Hack of Trump Aide’s Phone

The White House has launched an investigation into a reported security breach involving the personal phone of Susie Wiles, Chief of Staff to former President Trump. Sources indicate that unauthorized individuals may have accessed Wiles’ contact list and used the information to impersonate her in communications with other high-ranking officials.

The Wall Street Journal initially reported the alleged hack, with CBS News confirming the report. It is claimed that the perpetrators gained access to phone numbers of key figures and employed AI-powered voice cloning technology to mimic Wiles during phone calls. They also reportedly sent text messages from an unknown number, further disguising their impersonation.

When questioned by TechCrunch, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly declined to comment on whether investigators suspect a compromised cloud account or a sophisticated cyberattack, possibly involving government-grade spyware.

A White House statement conveyed that they “takes the cybersecurity of all staff very seriously, and this matter continues to be investigated.”

This isn’t the first time Wiles has been targeted. In 2024, The Washington Post reported an attempt by Iranian hackers to breach her personal email account. According to the Journal, that earlier attempt was successful, resulting in the theft of a dossier on then-Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance.

This incident adds to a growing list of cybersecurity concerns surrounding the Trump administration. Earlier this year, former National Security Advisor Michael Waltz inadvertently included a journalist in a Signal group chat with top officials, including Vance and Wiles, where sensitive discussions about a planned military action in Yemen took place.

Reports further revealed that these officials used a Signal clone app, TeleMessage, for archiving purposes. TeleMessage has reportedly been hacked on at least two separate occasions, exposing private messages of its users.
