Truth Social experienced widespread outages shortly after former President Donald Trump posted claims of a US military strike against Iranian nuclear sites.
The social network, owned by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), began displaying error messages around 8 pm ET on Saturday. Users reported seeing “Network failed” messages when attempting to access the platform.
Trump’s initial post, shared at 7:46 pm ET, stated that the US had launched a “very successful attack” on Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. He also shared a screenshot of the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) at 7:53 pm ET.
In subsequent posts, Trump claimed that “all planes are now outside of Iran air space” and that a “full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow.” He concluded by congratulating “our great American Warriors” and calling for peace.
DownDetector, a website monitoring service outages, registered a surge in reports of Truth Social being down around 8 pm ET. While the exact cause of the outage remains unclear, NetBlocks, which monitors internet accessibility, stated that the incident was “not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering.”
Neither Truth Social nor US and Iranian officials have immediately commented on the situation. However, The New York Times, citing anonymous sources, reported that US forces conducted airstrikes on the Fordow and Natanz facilities.
This incident follows a recent email from Truth Social urging users to follow Trump’s account, calling it an “essential resource for navigating world affairs today.”
The White House has announced that Trump will deliver a televised address at 10 pm ET.
