Tesla Takedown: Protests Intensify Globally

Protesters are ramping up their campaign against Tesla, organizing what they call their “biggest day of action” on March 29th. The movement, dubbed “Tesla Takedown,” is planning demonstrations at Tesla showrooms and Supercharger stations worldwide.

Organizers anticipate 500 events, targeting all 277 Tesla showrooms in the United States and expanding to international locations. This surge in activity follows growing discontent with CEO Elon Musk’s policies and actions as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Critics cite the elimination of federal aid programs and widespread government employee layoffs as primary grievances.

While organizers emphasize peaceful protest, recent incidents of vandalism and arson targeting Tesla showrooms have drawn condemnation. Accusations of “domestic terrorism” have been leveled, raising concerns about potential legal repercussions for protesters.

Despite these challenges, activists remain determined. They highlight Tesla’s declining stock price as a key vulnerability, aiming to further impact the company’s valuation and, potentially, Musk’s influence.

“We need to show Elon that he can throw a tantrum online because his stocks are tanking,” said Alice Hu, executive director of Planet Over Profit.

Participants are urged to understand their rights and consult legal counsel, particularly in states with strict laws that could be used to suppress dissent.

“The things that we’re fighting for, we are fighting for our country,” said Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Tex.)

The “Tesla Takedown” movement represents a growing challenge to both the company and its CEO, raising questions about the intersection of market forces, political power, and free speech.

Keturah Johnson, a veteran and vice president of AFA-CWA concludes with “Protect trans folks, respect veterans, fight it to save lives, and let’s take Tesla the fuck down. Solidarity forever.”
