Great news for iPhone users in Vietnam! The latest iOS 18.4 update brings official Vietnamese language support to Siri, Apple’s voice assistant. This means you can now interact with your iPhone using your native language, making everyday tasks even easier.

Siri Understands You: Vietnamese Support Arrives

Available on iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 11, and later models, as well as iPadOS 18.4 and macOS 15.4, this update allows Siri to understand and respond to Vietnamese commands. To update, simply navigate to Settings > General > Software Update. (The update is around 7GB for the iPhone 16 series.)

Voice Control for Local Apps: Be and Momo Integration

Beyond basic interactions, iOS 18.4 integrates Siri with popular Vietnamese apps like Be (ride-hailing) and Momo (e-wallet). Imagine ordering a Be ride with a simple voice command, setting your destination to a saved address. Or transferring money to a contact on Momo, all hands-free!

Here’s how it works:

  • Be: Use Siri to book a ride to your saved locations.
  • Momo: Send money to your contacts by speaking the command and amount.

These features are especially useful when you’re busy or for elderly users who might find navigating apps challenging.

The Future of Siri in Vietnamese

While the initial implementation requires precise phrasing, Apple is expected to improve Siri’s flexibility and expand its app support in the future. For now, get ready to say “Hey, Siri” and experience a new way to interact with your iPhone in Vietnamese. Choose from four different Vietnamese voice options in settings and train Siri to recognize your pronunciation with five example phrases.

What can you do with Siri in Vietnamese?

  • Make calls
  • Send text messages
  • Check the weather
  • Manage your calendar
  • Control HomeKit devices

While Apple Intelligence features aren’t yet available in Vietnamese, Apple plans to add support later this year, along with other languages like Chinese, and various versions of English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Siri’s Vietnamese support marks a significant step forward, bringing a more intuitive and accessible experience to Apple users in Vietnam. Although it doesn’t yet integrate AI like Gemini on Android, this update offers valuable hands-free functionality and opens up exciting possibilities for the future.
