Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has issued a forceful demand for social media giants, including Elon Musk’s X, Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook, and TikTok, to immediately remove graphic videos depicting the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

On Wednesday, Rep. Luna took to social media, explicitly addressing the platform leaders to take down what she described as “horrifying videos” of Kirk’s murder. Her plea highlighted the profound impact such content has on the victim’s family, stating, “He has a family, young children, and no one should be forced to relive this tragedy online.”

Luna emphasized a broader concern about online content moderation, asserting, “These are not the only graphic videos of horrifying murders circulating— at some point, social media begins to desensitize humanity. We must still value life. Please take them down.”

The call for content removal garnered significant support from various social media users, including fellow Republican lawmaker Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), who echoed Luna’s sentiments: “Thank you!!! I agree completely! I NEVER want to see that again!! I hate that I saw it at all.” However, the congresswoman’s stance also sparked criticism from individuals who voiced concerns about censorship and free speech online.

The tragic incident unfolded at Utah Valley University, where Charlie Kirk was fatally shot. Videos and images of the shooting, showing Kirk being struck in the neck before collapsing, quickly went viral across multiple social media platforms. Kirk was pronounced dead following the attack, and law enforcement continues its search for the suspect.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed its active involvement in the case. In an official statement, the FBI declared, “The FBI is working alongside our local and state law enforcement partners in Utah to fully investigate and seek justice in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.” The agency has urged the public to assist their investigation by sharing any relevant information, photos, or videos from the incident.
