Jet Trackers Unfazed by FAA Privacy Push

A new FAA initiative aims to shield private jet owner details, but celebrity flight trackers like Jack Sweeney remain confident in their methods. Despite the FAA’s efforts to withhold registration information, these trackers often rely on alternative sources.

Sweeney, known for tracking figures like Elon Musk and Taylor Swift, stated that identifying jet owners involves extensive research beyond the FAA database. Media reports and associated sources are frequently used to uncover ownership information.

The FAA’s process complies with the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, addressing privacy concerns stemming from accounts like Sweeney’s ElonJet. The act intends to protect personally identifiable information, including that of trusts and LLCs.

While the FAA aims to enhance privacy, jet trackers appear resourceful enough to maintain their surveillance, regardless of these new regulations. The National Business Aviation Association has been contacted for their input on the matter.
