Alarm bells are ringing as potential ties between DOGE staffers and Russian intelligence networks surface. This comes on the heels of a reported breach of the National Labor Relations Board traced to Russian IP addresses shortly after DOGE engineers gained significant access.
DOGE Breach: A Russian Connection?
Whistleblower Daniel Berulis alleges that the NLRB intruders utilized newly created DOGE credentials and methods indicative of “sophisticated Russian intelligence operations,” claims supported by cybersecurity experts. Berulis’ lawyer further suggests a Starlink connection, implying a direct link to Russia.
KGB Grandson & Hacking Allegations
Edward “Big Balls” Coristine, a former DOGE coder, is the grandson of Valery Martynov, a KGB agent executed for spying for the US. Before his departure from DOGE following revelations about his past, Coristine was reportedly terminated from a cybersecurity firm for leaking company documents. A Telegram account associated with him allegedly solicited hacking services, and he established a company with Russian-registered domains, including an AI bot for Discord aimed at the Russian market. Concerns were raised as Coristine was seen at US government agencies such as USAID, DHS, CISA, and the State Department prior to his dismissal.
Putin Ally on the DOGE Payroll?
Sam Corcos, CEO of a health-care tech firm with SpaceX connections, remains at DOGE. His wife, Varvara Russkova Corcos, previously worked at GVA Capital, a VC firm allegedly used as a front by Suleyman Kerimov, a sanctioned Russian oligarch and close associate of Vladimir Putin.
IRS Data Access Concerns
While at DOGE, Corcos reportedly sought “detailed taxpayer and vendor information” from the IRS, advocating for an “omnibus” agreement that would grant government agencies access to taxpayer data, ultimately leading to the resignation of the IRS commissioner.
Although there is no evidence of wrongdoing by Russkova Corcos, her affiliation with a firm linked to a Putin-connected oligarch, coupled with her husband’s pursuit of extensive access to sensitive data, has sparked considerable concern.
