The Asian FinTech sector closed out 2025 with an exceptional performance, recording its highest quarterly funding level in over a year. A significant surge in large-scale investments was the primary catalyst, propelling total capital raised to an impressive five-quarter high.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, overall FinTech funding across Asia reached $3.5 billion, marking a substantial 2.9x year-on-year increase compared to Q4 2024, and more than doubling the $1.6 billion raised in the preceding quarter. This robust growth was mirrored in deal volume, with 176 deals completed in Q4 2025. This represents a 51% rise from Q3 2025 and a 2.3x increase from Q4 2024, highlighting a vibrant and expanding investment landscape. The average deal size also grew to $20 million, up from $13.7 million in Q3 2025.

Large Deals Drive Record FinTech Investment

The remarkable uptick in funding was predominantly fueled by a dramatic rise in large investment rounds. While funding for deals under $100 million saw a slight dip from Q3 2025 to $1.1 billion, it still represented a healthy 70% increase year-on-year from Q4 2024.

However, the standout performance came from larger deals, specifically those valued at $100 million or more. These significant investments soared to $2.4 billion in Q4 2025. This figure represents an extraordinary 8.6x increase from the $278 million raised in Q3 2025 and a staggering 4.5x year-on-year surge from Q4 2024. This segment alone constituted the highest level of large deal funding recorded during the period, decisively driving the overall quarterly funding peak for Asian FinTech companies.

Airwallex Secures Major Funding, Fuels Global Expansion

A prime example of these impactful large deals was Singapore-based Airwallex, a leading global commercial payments and financial platform. The company successfully secured one of the quarter’s most significant investments, raising $330 million in a Series G funding round.

This pivotal round, led by Addition with participation from prominent investors like T. Rowe Price, Activant, Lingotto, Robinhood Ventures, and TIAA Ventures, valued Airwallex at $8 billion. This valuation marked a 30% increase from its Series F round just six months prior, underscoring strong investor confidence. With this latest injection of capital, Airwallex’s total funding has now reached an impressive $1.5 billion.

The fresh capital is earmarked for strategic initiatives, including the development of advanced AI agents, further product innovation, and aggressive international expansion. A major focus will be a planned $1 billion investment to bolster its presence in the United States between 2026 and 2029.

Airwallex continues to demonstrate formidable operational momentum, with its annualised revenue exceeding $1 billion and exhibiting 90% year-on-year growth. The platform’s annualised transaction volume has also doubled, surpassing $235 billion, while nearly half of its customer base now leverages multiple products. Furthermore, Airwallex has fortified its regulatory framework, holding 80 licenses and permits that enable operations across more than 200 countries and regions, cementing its position as a robust global provider of payments and financial infrastructure.
