Donald Trump has officially launched the “Trump Card,” a controversial program offering U.S. residency to wealthy investors willing to pay a hefty $5 million fee. The initiative, publicized on Trump’s Truth Social, aims to attract global millionaires seeking access to the American market.
Trump stated, “Thousands have been calling and asking how they can sign up to ride a beautiful road in gaining access to the greatest country and market anywhere in the world. It’s called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!”
However, the program’s official website, TrumpCard.Gov, has drawn criticism for its underwhelming design. The site, featuring a sign-up form with inconsistent fonts, has been described as “clunky-looking” and “homemade” despite its claim to be “an official website of the United States government.”
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick endorsed the program on X, writing, “The wait is over!”
While the site allows interested individuals and businesses to register from regions including Europe, Asia, and the Americas, detailed terms and conditions remain vague. Users can submit their information “to be notified the moment access opens.”
The concept of the “Trump Card” was initially introduced in February, with Trump suggesting it could replace the EB-5 investor visa. Lutnick has even proposed that the program could potentially offset the national debt, stating, “If there are 200,000 people who pay, that’s a trillion dollars. That pays for everything.”
The “Trump Card” promises a pathway to citizenship for wealthy individuals who invest in the U.S. economy. Whether the program’s high cost and basic website design will deter or attract potential applicants remains to be seen.
