In the face of increasingly complex cybersecurity threats, Vietnamese businesses are confronting significant challenges in protecting their digital assets and maintaining secure business operations in the digital environment

According to a report from the Ministry of Information and Communications, 2023 recorded over 13,900 cyberattacks on information systems in Vietnam, an increase of 9.5% compared to 2022. This underscores the urgent need for effective and comprehensive security solutions.

On June 24th, at the Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology, APAC Security, in collaboration with AVTech and eSentire, organized an in-depth seminar on cybersecurity trends. The event attracted participation from leading experts in the field of cybersecurity along with representatives from technology companies in Vietnam.

The focus of the seminar was sharing trends in the use of Security Operations Center as a Service (SOCaaS) and the application of AI in security platforms. Experts from eSentire presented on the rapid development of the SOCaaS market, as well as its importance in supplementing or replacing traditional in-house SOC teams.

SOCaaS: Comprehensive Security Solution for Vietnamese Businesses

Mr. Mert Mustafa, representing eSentire, opened the seminar with a speech on the overview of the SOCaaS market in the Asia-Pacific region. According to an IDC survey, 67% of Vietnamese businesses plan to increase spending on information security in 2024, with SOCaaS considered one of the top priorities. This model provides businesses with access to security tools and experts without the need for large investments in infrastructure and personnel.

AI: Enhancing Threat Detection and Response Capabilities

Following this, Mr. Ryad Jawaheer – Senior Solution Architect at eSentire – delved into the technical aspects of SOCaaS and AI applications in security. He shared: ‘Integrating AI into SOCaaS not only enhances threat detection capabilities but also significantly improves response times. We have witnessed a substantial reduction in Mean Time to Detect and Respond (MTTR) in organizations adopting this solution.

According to a Kaspersky report, Vietnam ranks second in Southeast Asia in terms of the number of cyberattacks in 2023. The application of AI in security can help reduce the time to detect and respond to threats to just minutes, compared to the current average of 207 days according to IBM.

Opportunities for Vietnamese Businesses

According to a report by the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications), 90% of small and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam do not have a dedicated cybersecurity team. SOCaaS can be a cost-effective solution for these businesses.

Attending the seminar, Evotek – representing technology companies in Vietnam – shared: ‘We see SOCaaS as an important trend in enhancing security capabilities for Vietnamese businesses. Evotek is actively researching to integrate these solutions into our product portfolio.

Concluding the seminar, APAC Security and eSentire signed a strategic partnership agreement, marking a new step in bringing advanced security solutions to the Vietnamese market. This move promises to open up opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to access leading security technologies, contributing to enhancing their competitiveness in the digital era.
